Discover the London you won’t find in the guide books
Have yourself an alternative experience of the capital with the Alternative London Tour!
One of the greatest things about London is its unwavering penchant to be, for want of a better word, alternative! To show people just exactly how alternative London is, until Saturday 22 December 2012, the Alternative London Tour is set up in the East End of the capital, revealing the city’s most alternative assets.
This unique tour is focused on London’s East End, and everything there that is considered to be ‘unconventional’ to say the least. Being marketed through the slogan, “discover the London you won’t find in the guide books”, this award-winning tour takes guests to the heart of London’s most eastern corner.
Here visitors will experience the East End in a completely new light, learning about components of its history and culture that you certainly wouldn’t have learned in a history class at school!
As well as delving into the East End’s off the beaten track, the Alternative London Tour will present guests with fresh and unseen insight into the many creative and innovative projects currently emerging from the likes of Brick Lane, Shoreditch and Spitalfields.
Street art has taken off sublimely in recent years in London’s East End. In fact you can rarely walk through the market stalls of Brick Lane without stopping to absorb the sensational street art that is colourfully displayed on the streets. Tourists from around the world eagerly take pictures of this modern and controversial form of art, proof that street art is both appreciated and adorned.
The Alternative London Tour focuses on the east end of the capital’s prolific explosion into street art, with several of the tour guides being local street artists themselves.
The Alternative London Tour offers tours by bike or tours on foot and combines these tours with street art workshops.
