Proud Chelsea – a new gallery local to the Wyndham Grand Chelsea Harbour opened on the 18th November situated at 161 King’s Road, London.

The gallery is opening with a landmark “Elvis at 21″ exhibition entitled “New York to Memphis by Alfred Wertheimer”

Alfred Wertheimer’s archive represents the most esteemed collection of its kind and is the only candid, behind the scenes photographic portrait of Elvis in existence.
RCA, Elvis’ record label at the time, were looking for head shots to use for press, thus commissioned Wertheimer for a one day assignment. Wertheimer, who responded “Elvis Who?” to the original request, was just happy to earn some money as a struggling freelancer.

This exhibition will run from 18th November 2009 to 31st January 2010.
