For the last 60 years, the London Boat Show has been displaying new boats and associated kit of the highest order. Held at the state-of-the-art ExCel Exhibition Centre is opposite the O2 Arena, this waterside venue is the perfect place to feast your eyes on a British Naval Frigate or Destroyer. It has to be said that the ExCel is the only exhibition centre in London which can host a regatta!
Running until January 14, 2014, the London Boat Show is the first of next year’s busy and impressive calendar of nautical shows in Europe. There’s plenty to see and do at this interactive event, including the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Active Marina Experience.
The RYA Active Marina Experience provides free, instructional shore-based courses led by the RYA giving visitors the chance to hone up boating skills or get to grips with new ideas with expert instructors. Asides learning all the best tricks of the trade, one of the greatest components of the London Boat Show is that you have so many boats to gaze longingly at. The boats over 50 ft fall into the sort of price range that would buy you a decent family house. There are however many reasonably priced boats on display at this exclusive event.
The clever part about this boat is the way it comes apart into three pieces which cosily nestle inside one another somewhat like a nest of small tables. Nestaway Boats, the company that created the boat, says that it can fit in the back of an estate car or trailer for easy transportation. The Nestaway 14ft prices start at around £2895 and represent the lower end of innovative models in show at the ExCel Exhibition Centre in 2014.
There are many surprises in store at this glamorous and exciting show and the only real way to see what tickles your fancy in the nautical world is to get on down to ExCel this coming January.
