tibits Vegetarian Restaurant and Bar
tibits Vegetarian Restaurant and Bar – Vegetarian Paradise without the Pretension.
Being a nation which loves its meat, it seems strange that tibits – a vegetarian restaurant and bar – is a huge success in Switzerland, with branches dotted all over the country.
Almost two years ago, the first branch of tibits opened in the UK, on London’s Heddon Street, and has proved to be, like in Switzerland, a thriving success.

Unlike many vegetarian restaurants, or many restaurants in London in general, tibits lacks pretension, and, on the contrary, possesses a relaxing, friendly and modest vibe.
You can always spot a tibits’ ‘first-timer’ as they stand looking puzzled, unaware of the ‘unconventional’ process of ordering food. Because there is no ‘ordering’ as such in tibits, instead a giant, oval-shaped ‘food boat’ dominates the restaurant, over-spilling with delicious vegetarian dishes and filling the air with a scrumptious vegetarian aroma.

Clients simply have to ‘fill their boots’ at the Food Boat and, when they are satisfied their plate is full enough, get it weighed, and enjoy first-rate vegetarian cuisine in an unperturbed, uncomplicated, yet atmospheric ambience.
If a deliciously healthy fresh fruit drink, that even the gastronomic maestro Gordon Ramsey has regularly been seen gulping down, doesn’t tickle your fancy, tibits serves some great beers, including Old Speckled Hen and organic Freedom Lager, as well as some decent fine wines.
Also, dissimilar to many a London restaurant, which regards itself too ‘swanky’ to provide humble tap water to its guests, at tibits guests can help themselves to a limitless supply of water on tap.
So if you are looking for an ‘alternative’ dining experience, some luscious veggie cuisine and a decent pint for a mere snippet of the cost of many of its contemporaries, despite its fashionable Heddon Street location, take a short stroll from Piccadilly Circus to tibits, you won’t be disappointed. And no, there’s no need to book, as continuing its ethos of uncomplicated, stress-free dining, tibits does not take reservations.
