If you’re struggling for inspiration you may want to have a read of this list of emerging winter wedding trends.
Cosy weddings can be the order of the day in the colder months. Neutral colours with minimalistic styling of white and silver can really provide a touch of glamour. Invites could be white with silver snowflakes. A subtle winter theming of icicles and snowflakes can give that magical ambience. Why not replace confetti with confetti snow? Bridesmaids can really stand out with understated beauty in colours of silver and pale blue. For the really extravagant, why not hire an ice rink, snow machines, or even the good old slush puppy machine!
2. Black and White
Black and white weddings aren’t my kind of thing, but don’t let that put you off. They’re most definitely vogue and can be an easy/cheap colour combo to coordinate. Extra touches to consider might be black and white photos, black and white humbug sweets as favors.
A touch of calligraphy running through order of service, invites, cake decoration, table markers can make a nice touch to any wedding
Surprisingly calligraphy used on wedding cakes is taking off in a big way.
4. Going Vintage
A popular emerging trend is the eco / vintage theme. A touch of vintage can be cost effective (recycling family antiques, dresses etc) and tremendously classy. If you’re not too precious about family glassware why not make use of it in centre pieces. If you’re uncle has a vintage motor car lying around that can obviously be a good option for trnasportation!
5. The Dress
Winter weddings have gone all ball gown and gloves in recent years – and why not. This adds real opulence to the occasion and adds to the magic of a winter wonderland theme.
6. Minimised Wedding Cakes
Ok key points to consider:
- Layered cakes are back in fashion
- Compact but intricate cakes are cost effective
- Two tier cakes look great and are cost effective
- Dusted silver powder can play up to the winter theme
7. Beverage Additions
Ooh my favourite, hot chocolate and marshmallows are a must at any winter wedding. Other winter warmers such as hot cider, mulled wine, winter Pimms are perfect for reception drinks.
On the more exotic side you could go for eggnog or my personal favourite white hot chocolate… mmmm
Winter flowers to consider:
- Red roses
- White boutonnieres
Bouquets can be offset with crystals, silver ribbons and understated greenery.
- Sweets, e.g quality mints
- Spirit miniatures e.g Port, Brandy or even Sambuka!
- Cookies – these have to be really good
- One idea I like, is a bag of pick n mix Woolworths style surely you can’t go wrong there….
